World Water Day
World Water Day Teaching Activities
World Water Day (WWD) is coming up on March 22nd, 2017!
In celebration of World Water Day on March 22nd, 2017 several water organizations in the Dane County area are holding events to raise awareness of water issues and actions we can take to protect this precious resource. Events will be held throughout the greater Madison area and include: watershed tours, hikes, water related talks, a rain garden workshop, showerhead giveaways and more. For a complete list of events visit the Dane Co. World Water Day Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/DaneWorldWaterDay/ .
We invite you to take a day during World Water week to teach about water too. Looking for ideas? The Madison Area Municipal Stormwater Partnership (MAMSWaP) put together a WWD Educator's Packet with a short PowerPoint presentation on the basics of stormwater, an interactive lesson to teach students what a watershed is and a storm drain marking activity to get students outside educating others about stormwater pollution. The activities are geared for upper elementary and middle school teachers and students. All the supplies needed for the storm drain marking activity are available through the Dane Co. Natural Resources Education Center.
