Our Department's Rainfall Simulator is a unique educational tool that demonstrates what happens when rain falls on different surfaces. The simulator illustrates how landuse impacts water quality by comparing the amount of runoff vs infiltration from various samples. Available samples include: thin compacted lawn, healthy high mow turf, prairie, tilled garden, covered tilled garden, pavement and pervious pavement. See below for video demonstrations or contact us to request this activity for your organization or educational group.
Christal Campbell gives a demonstration on stormwater runoff. Learn preventative measures you can take at home to help mitigate stormwater and pollution from getting into our lakes, rivers, and streams.
